What is NEKO?

NEKO is a revival of one of the earliest Bitcoin cat designs from the BitcoinTalk era.

It used the Maneki Neko lucky-cat style and became part of early Bitcoin meme and community art culture. This was before modern crypto mascots took over. Before meme markets became saturated. Before "cat coin" was even a known lane.

That is what makes NEKO different. This is not a made-up mascot with fake history. This is real old Bitcoin cat lore being brought back.

Bitcoin had a cat before the rest of crypto learned to love animals.

Before DOGE. Before PEPE.

Before DOGE mooned and before PEPE became one of the biggest meme tickers in crypto, Bitcoin already had a cat identity in its early community art era.

That gives $NEKO a huge advantage as lore: it is not a copy of the animal meta. It predates it.

We are not following the meta. We are reviving what came before it.

The first bitcoin cat

The lucky cat / Maneki Neko is already a symbol of fortune and blessing. That made it perfect for early Bitcoin culture.

The community effectively had a Bitcoin lucky cat before modern meme coins even existed. That is NEKO.

Why now?

Everyone has been searching for the next strong cat narrative. But most cat coins are just random cats with no actual history. NEKO is different.

  • Old Bitcoin roots
  • Real community-lore energy
  • Actual proof
  • Recognizability
  • Simple memeability
  • One of the cleanest BTC pairings possible

And now that PONS lets memes pair directly with assets, the old Bitcoin cat finally gets the pair it always deserved: $NEKO / cbBTC

Old lore. New tech. Perfect pair.

Blessed by the bitcoin cat

The Maneki Neko is a lucky cat. Bitcoin culture always loved symbols, stickers, logos and weird community art. NEKO brought those two worlds together.
